The Mangaung municipality is failing its residents. This after the Municipal Manager (MM), Sello More undertook prompt feedback every 14 days regarding a service delivery meeting that took place on 8 February 2024. Today 10 weeks later no feedback has been received and no ITC Oversight was arranged, as committed for the first week of March 2024.

The meeting addressed various service delivery issues, such as water supply, stormwater repair/management, road maintenance/repair, pothole repairs and ICT oversight request to name a few.
The first question that comes to mind is if there is something to hide concerning the ITC Oversight Visit. The municipality is supposed to implement the policies and programs developed by the Political Leadership.

The Administration is required to be politically neutral and impartial while carrying out its duties. It also plays a crucial role in ensuring that policies and programs are implemented efficiently, effectively, and with the highest standards of accountability and transparency.

Unfortunately, it seems that the MMM under the Leadership of MM, Sello More failed dismally in their obligations and in accountability and transparency to the residents of this city.

The 2024 Governance Performance Index (GPI) report from Good Governance Africa (GGA) ranked MMM as the worst-run Metro in South Africa, with the two least favourable categories Management and Political Leadership.

Only the DA has a proven track record of strong political leadership and efficient, effective, accountable, accountable, politically neutral and impartial administrations. Residents of Mangaung have the power to turn this unfortunate state of affairs around by voting DA in this year’s election and pave the way for a DA-led MMM in 2026.
