Speaking on Vuma fm this morning on tourism month, the MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs Mr. Sboniso Duma praised the vast tourists destinations in the province of KwaZulu-Natal.

The MEC cited some of the key strategic advantages that the province has such as the coastal scenery where both the architecture and Ocean breeze are a tourists dream. The MEC also highlighted the mountains and Waterfalls that tourists would enjoy in Howick Falls and Drakensburg respectively, as they take their short-left exertions.

“KwaZulu-Natal has a lot to offer tourists from the beaches in Durban, Mhlanga, Balitto and down the Coast. The province has All the Big Five animals if you love nature. The Hluhluwe Game Reserve will give you the experience of seeing all the animals you love in one place, the Birds as well as all the big animals” the MEC said.

Tourists who love recreational activities will be happy to know that the province has four clubs in the Professional Soccer Leage (PSL), open gym space at Moses Mabhida Stadium and for the morning breeze as well as jog-Bikers, there is a parade at Shaka Marine new precinct, and for those who just want to relax and cool their heads off, there are many destinations for that kind of experience”. Remarks the MEC.

As tourism is all about a bit of leisure, and taking time off the hustle and buzzle of business, Vuma fm interview hosts asked the MEC if he has done Banji-Jumping (light moment). “Fortunately the MEC grew up nearby the Sea in the south coast, so a lot of recreational activities were part and parcel of enjoying the beautiful expanse of the coast”. Said Duma.

It is comforting that the MEC also mentioned the support and relief packages that his department entities (in particular Ithala Development Bank and KZN Growth Fund) are doing to support SMME’s in the tourism sector that were hit by the Covid-19 related Lockdowns, which devastated the local tourism sector.

“Entrepreneurs in the hospitality industry should come forward and take advantage of the grant and relief packages that government has placed for the assistance of the sector to recuperate after the lockdown aftermath” the MEC said. The KwaZulu-Natal province looks forward to hosting people from all walks of life to our beautiful short-left destinations and for people to come and have fun in our events-full land.
