The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in KwaZulu-Natal extends its congratulations to Cllr Mlungisi Ndlovu on his election as the new Mayor of the uMzumbe Municipality, on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal.

Cllr Ndlovu's election marks a significant turning point for that municipality ushering in a new era of effective governance and service delivery.

The IFP acknowledges that despite not holding the majority in uMzumbe, Cllr Ndlovu's election underscores the trust and confidence that both IFP, and non-IFP councillors, have placed in the party's leadership and track-record.

Furthermore, it speaks to the widespread support for the IFP's vision of uplifting communities and delivering tangible results.

The recent change in leadership reflects the people's desire for accountable and transparent governance, free from the shadow of corruption that has plagued the municipality in recent years.

The IFP commends ANC Speaker Cllr Sibonelo Maphumulo for his courage in standing against corruption and for the rights and interests of the people of uMzumbe, even while facing a backlash from his own party.

The IFP remains steadfast in its commitment to ethical leadership and good governance.

We stand in support of Mayor Ndlovu and the entire leadership team as they embark on the important task of rebuilding and revitalising uMzumbe Municipality for the benefit of all its residents.

The IFP calls on the ANC to uphold the values of integrity and accountability, and to address the concerns raised by Cllr Maphumulo regarding corruption and mismanagement in uMzumbe.

It is imperative that public representatives prioritise the needs of the people above all else and work collaboratively towards a better future for our municipalities.

The IFP remains committed to serving the people of KwaZulu-Natal with diligence, honesty, and unwavering dedication.

We look forward to working closely with Mayor Ndlovu and the new leadership of uMzumbe Municipality to deliver on the promise of progress and prosperity for all.
