Eskom has informed Rand Water of its planned maintenance to work on the transformers that supply power at the Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant (ZWTP). The Eight (8)-hour planned maintenance is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 21 January 2024, from 08h00 until 15h00.

During this period, pumping capacity will be reduced at Eikenhof, Palmiet and Mapleton Systems. As a result, some areas in the Cities of Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni and Tshwane may experience low pressure to no water supply. The implementation of the project may also impact water supply to the local municipalities of Rand West, Mogale City, Merafong Madibeng, Lesedi, Govan Mbeki, Rustenburg, and Victor Khanye.
