The Deputy Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries, Ms Makhotso Sotyu, together with the Free State MEC for Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Mr Makalo Mohale and MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Kwekwe Bulwane will donate school desks and other essentials to Ladybrand Public Primary School, Manyatseng Primary School and Manyatseng Old Age Home, on Friday, 17 July 2020.
The donations form part of the annual Nelson Mandela International Day, celebrated every year on 18 July, as part of former President Nelson Mandela’s birthday. The day has since its launch in 2009 inspired individuals to take action to help change the world for the better, and in doing so build a global movement for good.
This year’s Mandela Day comes as communities across the world are affected by the spread of Covid-19, which has hit every economy, causing new social and economic challenges and exacerbating old ones.
The Deputy Minister and the MEC will be joined by the Mayor of Mantsopa Local Municipality, Cllr Mamsie Tsoene.
