ANC to investigate Magashule

The Africa National Congress will launch an investigation into Ace Magashule’s alleged involvement in the formation of the African Transformation Movement.

Three sources with direct knowledge of events have confirmed to a media outlet that former president and ANC secretary-general Kgalema Motlanthe will lead the investigation. His panel is still to be finalised but is said to include former speaker of Parliament Frene Ginwala.

Magashule, the ANC’s current secretary-general, is suspected of having played a key role in the formation of ATM, of which Mzwanele Manyi is the most prominent member. It's even believed he recommended the word "movement" be included as part of the party’s name.

Bathabile Dlamini resigns from Parliament

ANC Women’s League President Bathabile Dlamini is the latest senior party leader to walk away from Parliament.

Her resignation comes on the heels of former ministers Siyabonga Cwele and Jeff Radebe, who resigned from the National Assembly on Monday.

Last week, former members of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s executive Thokozile Xasa, Dipou Letsatsi-Duba, Makhosini Nkosi and Nomaindia Mfeketo also resigned from their positions as ordinary members of the National Assembly.

Dlamini was one of the controversial names appearing on the ANC’s list of candidates to serve in Parliament, with the party being criticised for refusing to remove her and several others who were clouded by claims of corruption.

And, ANC national working committee backs move to disband youth league's NEC

The ANC’s national working committee has granted ANC Youth League members' wishes by calling for the league's disbandment.

It is understood that the NWC granted the wish for the collapse of the league's beleaguered national executive committee during a meeting on Monday.

A growing number of members have been calling for the removal of leaders elected at the league's 25th national conference in 2015. They have asked its mother body to replace "old" leaders with a national task team that will take it to its 26th conference.
