City of Johannesburg advises the residents to input and comment on the draft 2023/2024 Property Rates Policy.

Public consultation has been coupled with the City’s IDP process since 01 April 2023.  In addition, the City will be engaging its stakeholders from Monday, 24 April 2023, via Microsoft teams meetings in an attempt to ensure that all its valuable stakeholders are engaged properly. 

The Municipal Property Rates Act 6 of 2004 (MPRA) as amended, requires municipalities to review and implement a Rates Policy on an annual basis.

Kgamanyane Maphologela, the Director of Customer Communications for the City’s Group Finance Department, says the additional Property Rates Public consultation engagements will happen virtually on the Microsoft Teams platform.

“These are additional meetings for our customers. We want to ensure that all our customers are properly engaged and that they input and shape the property rates policy,” says Maphologela. 

The City will send SMS notifying residents about the planned meetings. The details of the scheduled meetings will be published on the City’s website and social media platforms.
