23rd September 2021

A youngster (11) Andeville Magamie from Thembalethu won a competition held by Thembalethu Library.

Competitors had to write an essay about illegal dumping and add cellphone photos.

The competition was part of National Book Week that was celebrated from 9 to 13 September 2021.

Andeville wrote a short essay where she spoke about how people dump their refuse illegally and how it can be bad for people’s health. Extracts from the essay reads: “It is very unfair to throw papers or plastic bags full of trash near some people’s houses. If your plastic (bags) are full, wait for the rubbish truck to collect the rubbish… people please make South Africa a beautiful place.”
