WORLD FOOD DAY COMMEMORATION

14th October 2020

The Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, Ms Thoko Didiza together with MEC of Economic Development, Agriculture, Environment and Rural Development Ms Morakane Mosupyoe and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Representative will visit agricultural projects in Bronkhorstspruit, Gauteng on 15 October ahead of World Food Day Commemoration on 16 October 2020.

 

The World Food Day (WFD) will be commemorated virtually on Friday, 16 October 2020 and the Pre-World Food Day event to be held on 15 October 2020, which will coincide with the International Day of Rural Women. The pre-WFD event will involve physical visits by the minister and her entourage to the identified indigent households and agricultural projects and the demonstration of the planting season will be launched. 

 

World Food Day is commemorated annually on 16 October to create public awareness of the world food shortage and to strengthen solidarity in the struggle against hunger, malnutrition and poverty.
