Western Cape on media accreditation and access to livestream for hybrid Western Cape State of the Province Address

The Premier of the Western Cape, Alan Winde, will deliver his State of the Province Address (SOPA) during the sitting at 10:45 am on Tuesday 15 February 2022 at the Velddrif Town Hall, Voortrekker Road, Velddrif.

This will mark the Official Opening of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament (WCPP).

A live feed will simultaneously be streamed at the WCPP Chamber, 7 Wale Street, Cape Town. Some Members will also participate using the online platform.

How to watch the proceedings online:

Due to COVID-19 regulations, only a limited number of people can attend either one of these venues. It is therefore recommended that media representatives wishing to cover the event follow the proceedings online via the Livestream.

The Livestream will integrate high-definition footage of the proceedings in Velddrif, Cape Town and the virtual participation. The Livestream will be aired here.

Media representatives wanting to join the MS Teams platform can request the link from the Digital Communication Officer, Matthys Odendal, at modendal@wcpp.gov.za

The SOPA debate and reply by the Premier will take place in the same venues and on the same platforms on 16 February. The SOPA debate, starting at 09:30 am can be viewed here and the Premier’s reply to the SOPA debate, starting at 14:00, can be viewed here.

Accreditation for in-person media attendees:

Photographers and television news cameras wishing to cover the event in Velddrif or Cape Town in person must contact Matthys Odendal before 12:00 noon on Monday, 14 February for accreditation. Please submit your name and surname, the name of your media house, your cellphone number and your email address.

Members of the media who have received accreditation must report to the registration desk in front of the Velddrif Town Hall or at the 7 Wale Street entrance to the Western Cape Provincial Parliament (in the concourse) between 09:00 and 10:00 on 15 February.

All media representatives must bring an ID book/card or driving licence and the completed COVID-19 self-declaration form, attached, to gain entry.

Photographers and television crews whose equipment has been cleared by security may also cover the arrival of the Premier at the Velddrif Town Hall. Photographers and television camera operators will be allowed inside the venues in Velddrif and Cape Town one at a time on a rotational basis.
