Tick the boxes with a free Covid-19 Compliance Checklist

As South Africa moves through the various lockdown stages as part of the response to the Covid-19 pandemic, businesses need to ensure that they meet the various Covid-19 focused compliance regulations and stay up to date with current legislation. This can be a headache for all operations, whether an operation with less than 10 employees, or one that has over 1000 employees on payroll and has a compliance team on staff, but is essential for establishing and maintaining a safe workplace, preventing the spread of the virus in- and out of your workplace.

Having an Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) checklist in place to ensure that bases are covered is the bare minimum for starting the process towards workplace preparedness. This will provide organisations with a springboard to identify their obligation and the structures that need to be put in place, help them devise strategies to approach specific compliance requirements, as well as prevent falling foul of the law – the risk of which could involve fines, imprisonment or both.

Prepared by Michelle Naidoo, of M.N Attorneys on behalf of LexisNexis South Africa, the Covid-19 OHSA Compliance Checklist is based on the Directive issued by the Minister of Employment and Labour on Occupational Health and covers the measures required for the duration of the National Disaster, applicable at all alert levels.
