Siviwe Gwarube is DA’s new chief whip

Democratic Alliance (DA) leader John Steenhuisen announced on Thursday the appointment of Siviwe Gwarube as the party’s new chief whip in Parliament, while Natasha Mazzone will now represent the party in the Joint Standing Committee on Intelligence and serve as Steenhuisen’s national security advisor.

Gwarube was elected as the party’s deputy chief whip in December, coming off her role as the DA’s shadow Minister of Health.

She replaces Mazzone as the Party's Chief Whip.

Meanwhile, Mazzone’s focus in the committee will be on overhauling the oversight model of the State security apparatus.

The DA’s new shadow Minister for Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development is Noko Masipa.

Dianne Kohler-Barnard is the new shadow Minister for Communications.

The DA’s newest MP Marina Van Zyl is now part of the Committee on Basic Education.

Solly Malatsi will reprise his role as DA national spokesperson alongside Cilliers Brink.

Steenhuisen said the following changes will be implemented with immediate effect.
