Sierra Leone's president says the country is at war with Ebola and that more treatment centres alone will not defeat the disease: People must also change their behaviour.

Government figures show a steady rise in confirmed cases reported in the capital, its surrounding areas and neighbouring districts. On Tuesday, 26 new confirmed cases were reported in the country's western districts, which include Freetown.

On a visit to some hard-hit areas, President Ernest Bai Koroma said several treatment centres are currently being built around the country, but that the battle will only be won when people start following experts' advice: avoid touching the sick or the dead, don't wash the bodies of the dead and quickly report to health centres if you fall ill.
