SACP Free State congratulates ANC for convening a successful Provincial Conference, calls for focused attention on pressing challenges confronting the movement and communities

The South African Communist Party (SACP) in Free State Province congratulates the African National Congress (ANC) in the province for successfully holding its 9th Provincial Conference held at Imvelo Lodge, Bloemfontein, from 20 to 22 January 2023. The SACP expresses its well wishes to the newly elected provincial leadership collective, led by Provincial Chairperson Mxolisi Dukwana.

Our movement and our communities in the Free State face complex multiple challenges that stand to delay or derail the much-needed programme of renewal, unity and fundamental socio-economic transformation. The SACP agrees that the challenges, ranging from internal organisational issues and those related to the debilitating state of governance in our province are complex, however, they are not insurmountable. The SACP therefore urges the new leadership to be firm, fair, and decisive, as well as Alliance-inclusive, in confronting all problems and overcoming all challenges which ought to be resolved in the interest of the people of the Free State and our movement.

The SACP implores the new leadership to be undeterred in working for the renewal and unity of the movement and unrelenting in confronting the structural crisis levels of unemployment, poverty, inequality, and underdevelopment, which are aggravated by corruption advanced by brazen parasitic patronage networks and their collaborators. The SACP can be counted as a dependable ally in the anti-corruption crusade needed in our province, amongst others, and the dismantling of these networks of state capture. In our province, unity and renewal cannot succeed and will be incomplete without reasserting our consensus on revolutionary theory and practice, ensuring meaningful reconfiguration of our revolutionary alliance and renewing ties with people to reignite their popular support.

The SACP in the Free State expects a new era of improved organisational and programmatic Alliance relations that prioritise and respond to the pressing challenges faced by our largely working-class and poor communities in the province.
