Rand Water has scheduled the planned shutdown of its H12 pipeline from 03 June 2022 to 04 June 2022. The 39.5-hour project activity is aimed at tying-in of a 5,2 km x 1700mm section of the newly constructed H39 pipeline which has been constructed to augment a portion of the H12 pipeline. The new pipeline is laid along the route adjacent to the existing H12 Pipeline within the Rand Water registered servitude at the point of the tie-in. The project tie-in will take place in Glen Austin Midrand, inside the Randjesfontein Estate.

The implementation of the project will require that the existing H12 Pipeline be isolated on Friday 3rd June 2022 from 07h00, and the system will be fully restored by the 4th of June 2022 at 22h30. Rand Water has formally informed the affected municipal customer, Johannesburg Water (JW) by issuing the 21-day notice in order to allow them to execute appropriate contingency plans. JW was further advised to fill its reservoirs before the actual shutdown commences. The North- Western areas and Randjesfontein will likely to be affected by the shutdown. The reduction of approximately 50% in water supply may be expected during this period. The system is expected to take approximately 2 to 3 days to adequately recover after supply has been fully restored. Rand Water would like to appeal to consumers to use water sparingly and apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused.
