Pikitup, the waste management company of the City of Johannesburg, has distanced itself from false social media messages that claim it is hiring staff. 

Pikitup is not hiring. In the event that the entity does indeed hire people, such vacancies will be advertised in newspapers and on its website. The messages that Pikitup is hiring were circulated via SMS, Twitter and WhatsApp. They are false and malicious and intended to mislead the public, particularly the multitudes of desperate work seekers. 

Job seekers are requested to ignore such misleading information and refrain from using their much-needed cash to visit Pikitup offices as a response to false information. 

In the event that vacancies are available, such positions will be advertised in newspapers and on Pikitup’s website. The public is encouraged to verify any information relating to Pikitup jobs by verifying such information by visiting the company’s website before taking action.
