OVER 1000 TITLE DEEDS FOR KHAYELITSHA RESIDENTS

18th April 2019

Minister of Human Settlements Nomaindiya Mfeketo will on Tuesday  23 April 2019  hand-over more than 1000  title deeds  and interact with the  community of Khayelitsha, Cape Town as part of a Nation-wide Title Deeds Restoration project.

This programme is a result of MINMEC (Minister and MECs) decision of 19 October 2018 meeting to intensify among others, the Title Deeds Restoration project. This is a way of ensuring secure tenure and thereby restoring dignity to the lives of people. Over the past year the Department of Human Settlements working with its provincial counterparts have handed over 1000s of title deeds to their rightful owners across the country.

The Department of Human Settlements is committed to restoring the dignity of ordinary South Africans through the delivery of sustainable human settlements. To date, over 4, 7 million houses and subsidies have been delivered across the country benefiting millions of deserving households.

Members of the media interested in photo opportunities and securing interviews with the Minister and other officials are also invited to attend this event.
