Outa lauds NCape Premier Saul’s promises

Northern Cape Premier Zamani Saul

The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (Outa) on Friday welcomed newly elected Northern Cape Premier Zamani Saul’s promises to cut back on wasteful expenditure, deliver good service and restore faith in communities in the province.

Outa operations executive Julius Kleynhans said following “an era of brazen State capture and corruption”, the Premier’s sentiments was directed at restoring faith in his constituency.

On Wednesday Saul announced his reduced Cabinet and said his government would be “people-centred” by promising that funds budgeted for new vehicles for MECs would instead be used to buy ambulances.

Outa agreed with Saul on his priority of doing away with “public executives” and reinstating “public servants”.

Kleynhans said that this was exactly what South Africans needed and said this was how provincial and local government should perform.

While reducing his Cabinet was a positive first step for the Premier, Outa warned that it would continue to ensure that Saul fulfilled all his promises.

“We hope that other Premiers will make similar tough decisions and curb expenses that deprive citizens of their right to decent healthcare, education, safety and security,” Kleynhans said.
