North West Legislature conducts public hearings on North West Adjustment Appropriation Bill

On Friday, 25 November 2016, the North West Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Premier, Finance, Economy and Enterprise Development will be conducting public hearings on the North West Adjustment Appropriation Bill, 2016 in AME Church Hall, Atamelang; Chris Hani Hall, Wolmaranstad; Utlwanang Community Hall, Christiana and Jericho Multipurpose Hall, Jericho at 10h00.

The North West Adjustment Appropriation bill 2016, aims to effect adjustments to the appropriation of money from the Provincial Revenue Fund for the requirements of the Province in respect of the 2016/17 Financial year; and to provide for matters.

Part of the Legislature’s mandate is to promote public participation & oversight, therefore the Bill intends to hear the voice of the community with regards to how funds should be allocated in the departments. This will be in the spirit of open democracy, transparency & accountability.

The money appropriated by the Legislature to the government departments should be spent in terms of the Public Finance Management Act No 1 0f 1999.
