The DA in Dihlabeng Local Municipality is concerned as the meeting that was scheduled for 31 October 2022 was called off at the last minute. The meeting was scheduled to discuss all the compliance reports and the appointment of an acting Municipal Manager and acting Directors. The failure of the Speaker's office to comply with the rules for calling a council meeting is not an acceptable excuse.

The DA has constantly raised the issue that infighting within the ANC, will collapse the municipality and sadly this has happened. The subversion of proper processes due to factionalism has enabled mismanagement and looting of scarce resources. The municipality has no leadership and lacks the ability or drive to fill the much-needed positions.

The DA in Dihlabeng is standing firm on the rule of law, accountability and for the most qualified individuals to be appointed. We will write to the Speaker of Council, Nthabeleng Mofokeng, and the Executive Mayor, Tseki Tseki, seeking clarity on why the council meeting was called off and how soon the next scheduled meeting will occur to address the lack of management. The community deserves the good governance and stability that is the trademark of a DA-led government.
