Mine Health and Safety Act: Mine Health and Safety Council: Appointments

The Mine Health and Safety Council (MHSC) was established in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) by the Mine Health and Safety Act, 1996 (Act No. 29 of 1996), as amended by section 18 of Act 72 of 1997 and as amended by Act 74 of 2008, to advise the Minister of Minerals Resources on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS); legislation and research outcomes focused on improving and promoting
OHS in South African mines. In addition to advising the Minister, the MHSC is also tasked to promote a culture of health and safety in the mining industry.
