McGluwa promises a clean DA-run government in North West

Democratic Alliance (DA) North West premier candidate Joe McGluwa on Wednesday promised a clean DA-run government should the party triumph at the polls.

He was speaking at his home town of Alabama, Klerksdorp, where he cast his vote.

McGluwa said a DA-led government would ensure job creation and service delivery were at the top of the list.

Some locals believed the DA  would be able to bring about change.

"I just hope that everything works out for the benefit of the community of Alabama , the province and the country” said Claudia Harmannes, a DA representative.

McGluwa was accompanied by first-time voter Wayne Solomons.

“I am very excited to be voting for the first time. As you can see in our community there's a lot of corruption going around and I am happy to be voting and making a change," said Solomons.

But African National Congress (ANC) member Margaret Martins said the ANC had changed the lives of many people.

"What is currently taking place in South Africa is okay and will pass because there are people within the ruling party [ANC] who are making a huge difference and will continue to do so for the better of our country,"  she said.
