Matzikama By-Election: A vote for the DA, is a vote for solutions

5th July 2022

The DA was shocked to learn that last year, while the ANC and its coalition partners were in charge of the Matzikama Municipality, they received 2 000 solar panel geysers from national government and hid them in a storeroom in Maskamsig, instead of giving it to the deserving residents of Vanrhynsdorp and Klawer.

This is a clear display of the ANC’s indifference towards residents that are struggling the most. In a time where we are all suffering from loadshedding, another ANC-created problem, these geysers should have been installed, providing warm water to residents.

Luckily, there will be a by-election in Vanrhynsdorp on Wednesday, and residents can vote for the DA and keep the corrupt and inept ANC from creating more problems in Matzikama.

The second shock this week, was the announcement of yet another increase in the fuel price. On Wednesday South Africans will pay over R2 more for a litre of fuel - the second exorbitant increase in 30 days.

In response, the DA submitted its Fuel Price Deregulation Bill to Parliament which seeks to amend the Petroleum Products Act that gives government the power to prescribe the price of petroleum products. The ANC, however, has yet to come up with any significant plan to resolve this issue that is driving citizens deeper into poverty.

Voters have a very important decision to make, not only at tomorrow’s by-election in Vanrhynsdorp, but also at the upcoming elections in 2024. The choice is simple: You can support a government that brings you problem after problem after problem, or you can support a government that brings you solutions.

Make the right choice.
