Letsemeng Mayoral Imbizo highlights ANC inefficiencies

23rd May 2023

The Democratic Alliance (DA) is deeply concerned about the ongoing Mayoral Imbizo led by Mayor Bonolo Mocwaledi in Letsemeng municipality, Free State. Instead of addressing urgent service delivery concerns, the Mayoral Imbizo appears to be nothing more than an electioneering tool without offering any substantial solutions to the ongoing problems faced by the municipality.

Throughout the engagements with community members and the local business community, it became evident that frustration is mounting in Letsemeng. The imposition of a business license policy on local businesses, particularly foreign-owned shops, has caused discontent among business owners. The policy aims to regulate the opening of new shops and businesses, while the commonage farmers express their dissatisfaction with the lack of proper regulation of municipal land and inadequate support from the municipality.

Furthermore, community members highlighted their frustration over the absence of residential water meters. Many have also expressed their longstanding wait for title deeds, which have yet to be provided despite the submission of relevant documents to the municipal offices by Human Settlements.

The DA is committed to ensuring equal service delivery to all members of the Letsemeng community. To this end, we will write to the Speaker, urging the prompt submission of title deeds to the rightful owners of properties. The DA believes that through responsible and accountable governance, the community can experience real progress and have their needs met effectively.

It is time for a change in Letsemeng, and the DA stands ready to work tirelessly to address the serious underlying issues faced by the municipality. We will advocate for transparent and efficient administration that prioritizes the well-being and prosperity of every resident in Letsemeng.
