Women's Month is celebrated to commemorate the brave women who marched in protest to the Union buildings on 9 August 1956. This is an opportunity to celebrate women's achievements and the important role that women of all races have played and continue to play in South Africa.

This year’s celebrations will be commemorated under the theme “Woman’s Socio-Economic Rights Empowerment: Building Back Better for Woman’s Resilience”. The concept of generation equality is a global campaign and links South Africa to global efforts to achieve gender equality by 2030.
