Kimberly High Court strikes Louis Liebenberg urgent interdict off the roll, with costs

The Democratic Alliance (DA) welcomes the outcome of the Northern Cape Division of the High Court striking the urgent interdict Louis Liebenberg brought against me, off the roll with costs.

Liebenberg sought this urgent interdict following the DA reporting his racist conduct to the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) on 14 July 2020.

The Party’s submission to the SAHRC did not only include a video of Liebenberg mocking President Cyril Ramaphosa and implicating/generalising that all Black people are thieves, but the submission also included numerous screenshots supporting allegations that he may indeed have been instigating and supporting illegal mining in Namaqualand.

I reported Liebenberg to the SAHRC, as I believe that it was in best interest of the public, my Namaqualand constituency and in line with the DA’s anti-racism, anti-corruption and anti-exploitation stance.

The DA trusts that Liebenberg will abide by the Court’s decision and refrain from spreading possible disinformation regarding this matter.
