#KeepYourWardBlue - DA Announces Candidate for Ward 107 By-Election

The Democratic Alliance (DA) is pleased to announce Jonathan Mills as our candidate for the Ward 107 by-election on 28 June 2023. Jonathan’s nomination reflects the DA's commitment to serving the residents of Ward 107 with a focus on community development.

Jonathan Mills expressed his delight at being nominated, stating, "I am thrilled to be the Democratic Alliance's candidate for the Ward 107 by-election. If elected, I will prioritise creating a clean, safe, and business-friendly community. With my passion for community service and proven track record of action, I will work tirelessly to build on the record of positive progress.

As a long-standing member of the DA, Jonathan has demonstrated his dedication to community engagement. He has previously held positions as Finance Chair and Chairperson of two DA branches in similar communities. In these roles, he successfully increased DA membership in Masiphumelele, a disadvantaged community, to over 100 members.

The DA acknowledges Jonathan’s significant contribution to the party's performance in the 2021 Local Government Elections. Jonathan’s efforts in Masiphumelele more than doubled the DA's vote. He has also actively supported by-elections across the Western Cape.

"Having personally witnessed Jonathan’s dedication to the community and hard work for years, I know he will make a superb ward councillor for the residents of Ward 107. I couldn’t be happier to support Jonathan Mills as our DA candidate, and I call on all residents to support him too.

Jonathan will bolster our Team Cape Town as we build the city into a City of Hope in South Africa", said Cape Town Mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis.

Dr Nomafrench Mbombo, Constituency Head of ABT, expressed confidence in Jonathan’s ability to represent the community, stating, "Jonathan’s passion, dedication, and track record make him the perfect candidate for Ward 107. Co-Constituency Head, Traverse Le Goff added, “his commitment to service and promise of action aligns with the needs and aspirations of the residents."

Premier Alan Winde emphasised the importance of unity to bring about meaningful change. He stated, "It is crucial that we work together to ensure a better province and country. The DA is best positioned to address power blackouts, create jobs, and enhance community safety."

As the by-election campaign gains momentum, Jonathan Mills will engage directly with residents, understanding their concerns and developing effective solutions. The DA encourages all residents of Ward 107 to actively participate in this democratic process, sharing their ideas and concerns and voting for Jonathan Mills and the DA on 28 June 2023.55
