IFP Wins Ward 12 in Dannhauser, Sustaining Trajectory of Victory in By-Elections

The IFP in KZN has once again won a by-election outright, in Ward 12 of Dannhauser Local Municipality, under the Amajuba District.

The Ward was previously controlled by an independent candidate, who defected from the ANC before the 2021 Local Government Elections. Before that, Ward 12 was in the hands of the ANC.

The IFP delivered a resounding victory, winning the Ward with 1 012 votes (52%, up from 36% in 2021), while the ANC only received 505 votes (34% down from 36% in 2021).

The IFP is humbled - and at the same time, motivated - by these results.

IFP’s victory in Dannhauser increases the Party’s seats from eight to nine in the 25-seat Council. The IFP is currently in control of the Municipality with the support of other parties in the Council. This victory further strengthens the support of the IFP in Amajuba District.

It is also a clear indication of the growing support that the IFP is enjoying as we move towards the 2024 Provincial and National elections.

The IFP is thankful to the people of Dannhauser - and the entire province - for the ever-growing support that is being shown to the Party.

These by-election results symbolise a clear rejection of the ANC by the people of Dannhauser and the entire province of KZN.

People are tired of the empty and unfulfilled promises of the ANC. The people of KZN are consistently demonstrating their loyalty and strong belief in the IFP, which lives out the values of honesty, clean governance, respect and diligence towards service delivery.

The Party is also highly indebted to its President Emeritus, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, for his legacy of a clean record of governance, servant leadership and diligence, which continues to attract more and more people of KZN to support and trust the IFP.

Shenge’s proven and well-documented struggle credentials and his commitment to the service of the people for many decades, was shared with thousands of people by His Excellency, the former President of Nigeria, Dr Olusegun Obasanjo, at the 1st Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi Annual Lecture on 21 March.

It is Mntwana’s stand as a dedicated servant of the people that continues to inspire the people of this province - and country - to have confidence in the IFP.

The IFP would like to extend its thanks and appreciation to all its ground workers, the volunteers and everyone that contributed to this resounding victory.

The Party expects its newly-elected Councillor in Ward 12 to serve the people of Dannhauser with dignity, diligence and honour, as per the teachings of the IFP’s President Emeritus, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.
