The application for leave to appeal by Major General Ntlemeza against the judgment of a full bench of the Pretoria High Court, handed down on 17 March 2017, will be heard tomorrow at 10h00. Additionally, and simultaneously, the Court will hear a counter-application launched by the Helen Suzman Foundation (‘HSF’) and Freedom Under Law (‘FUL’) in terms of Section 18 of the Superior Courts Act. The counter-application asks for the order of the 17 March judgment to be enforced immediately despite any and all possible appeals.

The HSF has noted the current Minister of Police, Mr Fikile Mbalula, has withdrawn the application for leave to appeal initiated by former Minister of Police, Mr Nkosinathi Nhleko
