The Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development’s (GDARD) state veterinarians and animal health technicians will administer free rabies vaccinations to pets in Kagiso on Rabies Day on Monday.

Additional services such as 5-in-1 vaccine and parasite treatment will be administered to pets where necessary.  GDARD MEC Lebogang Maile will be on site to commemorate Rabies Day with communities.  Maile said state veterinarian services form part of a holistic approach to ensure that communities do not contract diseases.

“Government is committed to taking services to the people who otherwise would not afford private veterinarians,” Maile said.

Many pets have been vaccinated for rabies and other diseases around Gauteng Province as part of GDARD’s animal health campaign and awareness programme.
The media is invited to come and commemorate Rabies Day and witness animal health provision for Kagiso and surrounding area.
