Water levels in the listed dams in the Gauteng Province continue to drop, and this week the Province recorded a further drop from last week’s 96.3% to 96.1% as recorded in the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) weekly state of reservoirs report. The 96.1% recorded this week is lower than the 99.2% recorded during the same period last year.
This week, Bon Accord Dam has recorded 103.6%. The dam shows minor decrease from last week 104.2%. This indicate a decrease compared to last year’s 104.8% during the same period.
Equally, the Bronkhorstspruit Dam has shown a slight drop from 90.9% last week to 90.5% currently. The current levels of the dam are lower compared to the 97.4% during the same period last year.
At impressive 99.7% this week, Rietvlei Dam recorded a decline of 0.1% compared with the last week at 99.8%.
This week, Roodeplaat Dam is presently above 100% mark at 100.3%, a little lower than last week’s 100.4%.
Noting that the provincial water storage continues to fluctuate but remaining above the 50% mark, the Department of Water and Sanitation continues to call on water users to manage water demand.
