Flagship Executive Programme For Accounting Officers Launched

Public Service and Administration Minister, Senzo Mchunu

The National School of Government has launched the Etella programme, a Flagship Executive Programme for Accounting Officers in the public sector. The programme is part of two high level executive courses that were approved by Cabinet to give effect to the commitment of building the capacity of the state.

The first one is the Economic Governance Spring School training for members of the Executive from all spheres of government including Ministers, Premiers, Deputy Ministers and Mayors which ran from 15-20 November 2020.

Etella, for heads of departments and accounting officers, kicked off today, the 7th of December and is to be conducted by the National School of Government in partnership with the University College London.

“We are putting into effect and practice our commitment to build a capable developmental state,” said Minister for the Public Service and Administration, Mr Senzo Mchunu. The NSG falls under the Minister’s portfolio.

According to the Minister, broadening leadership perspectives is essential to improve the performance of the State for accelerated service delivery and inclusive growth. “Etella will help public sector Accounting Officers enhance their capabilities in executive leadership, optimise digital transformation, build high performance teams, apply appropriate financial modelling, and embed execution diligence”.
