The Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, Cllr Geoffrey Makhubo, has today, 02 November 2020, appointed the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) responsible for Development Planning, Cllr Lawrence Khoza as the Acting MMC for Economic Development.

The appointment follows the recent resignation of former MMC for Economic Development, Lloyd Phillips, who resigned as a Councillor in the City.

The Executive Mayor has extended his word of gratitude to the former MMC for his dedication and outstanding contribution to the city during this difficult economic period brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We thank Cllr. Phillips for his input and passionate involvement in the work of the Government of Local Unity. His contribution to the city’s efforts in building a post Covid-19 Economic Recovery Plan for the City have been remarkable and his passionate commitment to service delivery and local economic development will be sorely missed” said Mayor Makhubo.
