Telkom Financial Services, in partnership with low-cost investment platform EasyEquities, is bringing investment services to TelkomPay users, making Telkom the first telco to bring such a service to South African consumers. 

Through TelkomPay users can now buy and sell shares on the app by simply registering for the EasyEquities service. To access the service, users simply sign up through a seamless registration process, place funds into the account and start trading. 

Sibusiso Ngwenya, Telkom Financial Services Managing Executive said “The partnership between Telkom and EasyEquities entails offering customers that are on the TelkomPay digital wallet the opportunity to buy and sell any traded instrument on the JSE using the joint capabilities of the TelkomPay platform and EasyEquities. Partnering with EasyEquities made sense given they are market leaders in providing cost-effective access to the stock market.” 

The partnership aims to advance a culture of saving by making investment services available to all. Users of the service can easily transfer money from their TelkomPay digital wallet to EasyEquities on the app within minutes.

TelkomPay Digital Wallet is a payment service that enables consumers to make and receive payments through WhatsApp, USSD or the App. Through the Telkom digital wallet, users may make payments to bank accounts. Users incur no fees for registering for the EasyEquities service and are only charged for each transaction made when buying and selling shares on the platform. Even if an individual already has an EasyEquities account, connecting it to TelkomPay will make it easier.
