 Deputy president Mabuza to attend the UNAIDS global report in KZN

Deputy President David Mabuza in his capacity as chairperson of the South African National Aids Council (SANAC) will on Tuesday, attend the launch of the UNAIDS global report on the latest data on the HIV epidemic.

The report gives an update on progress and challenges in the fight against AIDS and highlights the enormous impact community health workers have in successfully expanding access to treatment, as well as supporting adherence and preventing new HIV infections.

KwaZulu-Natal province was nominated out of the 193 United Nations members to host the official launch of the report in view of its outstanding efforts in the fight against HIV and AIDS.

In line with the UNAIDS targets, KwaZulu-Natal in particular Eshowe, has already achieved the targets ahead of the 2020 deadline.

Mabuza will be supported by the Minister of Health, Zweli Mkhize and the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Sihle Zikalala.

The event will be held at the King DinuZulu Stadium in Eshowe.
