DEPUTY MINISTER, HENDRIETTA BOGOPANE-ZULU WILL HOST MEN’S DIALOGUE WEBINAR ON FATHER’S DAY

19th June 2020

The Deputy Minister of Social Development, Mme Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu, in partnership with the South African National AIDS Council (SANAC) Men’s Sector, Takuwani Riime – Men and Boys Championing Change, will be hosting a Men’s Dialogue webinar on Father’s Day, 21 June 2020.

Gender-based violence (GBV) has been one of the challenges faced by the society during the COVID-19 national lockdown period. This has highlighted a lack of services to men as both victims and perpetrators of GBV.

In our commitment to mobilise men under the Men and Boys Championing Change Programme, which focuses on social structural drivers and behavioural change, the webinar seeks to facilitate dialogues. The dialogues are also aimed at ensuring that the partnership consolidates a response by men and boys to take a stand against, amongst other things, rape, femicide and GBV in general, while strengthening families.

As we celebrate Father’s Day, we will shine a spotlight on the impact of fathers not taking responsibility for their children and its contribution to GBV. The role fathers and father figures to heal the nation and the support required to make the change.
