DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS TO WRAP UP ANTARCTIC WEEK WITH SOUTH AFRICAN-NORWEGIAN POLAR SEMINAR

The Department of Environmental Affairs in partnership with the Norwegian Polar Institute will be hosting the South African-Norwegian Polar Seminar at the Transnet National Port Authority’s Maritime Training Centre at the Port of Cape Town tomorrow, 7 December 2018.

The seminar is part of the South Africa’s Antarctic Season Week activities and will include various presentations related to South Polar activity and the role that South Africa and Norway are playing in conservation of Antarctica.

In tomorrow’s seminar, themed “Polar Gateways, panellists will amongst others be discussing the South African Antarctic Centre that is to be established at the Port of Cape Town..

The Antarctic Centre is being conceived as an education, scientific research and outreach facility that is a tourism focal point for local and international Antarctica enthusiasts, and those who simply want to enjoy and Antarctica experience and learn.
