Government convenes National Taxi lekgotla

In his weekly address to the nation, President Cyril Ramaphosa said the lekgotla would bring together government, civil society and industry stakeholders and followed provincial makgotla in some provinces.

He touted integrated rapid transport service networks to improve commuters’ experiences with public transport and said unsafe, unreliable and costly transport had a knock on effect on the economy.

ActionSA confident of appeal prospects with IEC

ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba is expected to submit his party’s appeal to the Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa after it tried to register as a political party and was rejected.

Earlier this month, the former Johannesburg mayor’s party was rejected owing to the alleged similarity of the logo to the Party of Action and the use of the South African flag in the logo.

ActionSA says it has prepared its appeal which addresses a number of serious legal shortcomings in the IEC’s approach.
