EFF says media and public must let law enforcement investigate Gordhan

The Economic Freedom Fighters has called on the public and the media to allow police to investigate allegations it has made against Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan.

The party laid charges of corruption, money laundering and fraud against the minister this week. It also alleges that Gordhan has a bank account in Canada and that people were instructed to deposit money into it.

In a statement released on Thursday, the EFF said those who defend Gordhan would be exposed as "conflicted stooges and sycophants of a corrupt cabal".

 

Former deputy chief justice Dikgang Moseneke doesn’t hold back on Zuma

Former deputy chief justice Dikgang Moseneke held no punches during his valedictory remarks as outgoing chancellor of Wits University.

In a scathing attack on former president Jacob Zuma, Moseneke said South Africans went to sleep for 10 years, during Zuma's presidency, and institutions were hollowed out.

He called Zuma bumbling fool during his address at a special farewell ceremony held on the Library Lawns of the university on Wednesday.

 

Court dismisses AfriForum's urgent bid to interdict Parliament's land expropriation report

AfriForum's urgent application to interdict the adoption of the Constitutional Review Committee's first report into land expropriation without compensation has been dismissed.

The second part of AfriForum's application - to have the public participation process reviewed will be heard at a later date in court.

This means the debate on the report will go ahead on Tuesday in the National Assembly, where it will be put for adoption.
