Freedom Front Plus celebrates election achievement
The Freedom Front Plus says it is now seated at the big table, saying that it is part of the big five parties in the country.
The party is in fifth place, behind the ANC, DA, EFF and IFP.
The Freedom Front Plus' head of elections and strategy, Wouter Wessels, said its performance in the elections stemmed from hard work.
He said the party was committed to work hard in all the platforms it won seats to represent those who voted for them.
Ramaphosa to tour IEC results centre
President Cyril Ramaphosa was due on Friday to visit the Electoral Commission of South Africa's results operations centre where vote counting is underway after May 8 national elections.
The Presidency said during his visit to the Tshwane events centre in Pretoria West Ramaphosa would do a walk-about to see the closing stages of the results process.
Ramaphosa's ANC maintained its lead on Friday, and the ANC was edging towards seven-million votes before 9 am, followed by the Mmusi Maimane led Democratic Alliance with close to three-million votes.
And, Zimbabwe readies for load-shedding
Low water levels in Kariba Dam, ageing power stations and expectations of a cold winter mean that Zimbabwe's power generation system is expected to be strained, with a possibility of power cuts.
The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company has said that poor rainfall in 2018 and 2019 led to reduced inflows into Kariba Dam. The dam's hydroelectric power stations supply electricity to both Zimbabwe and Zambia.
Water levels have decreased from 69% in 2018 to 34% today. The Zambezi River Authority, which manages the dam's water, has reduced water allocation to the Zimbabwe Power Company.
