IFP MP warns the DA to stop its childlike mentality

Inkatha Freedom Party MP Mkhuleko Hlengwa said the Democratic Alliance's campaign strategy could jeopardise its own chances of its envisioned coalition government with smaller parties.

This following the release of the DA’s radio ad in which it advised voters not to vote for smaller parties, saying their votes would be wasted.

The ad has received widespread criticism from smaller parties which are already in coalition with the DA in some municipalities.

A class action has been launched against Eskom

De Beers attorneys believes its plans to launch a class action against Eskom over load-shedding are viable, despite a previous statement from the power utility that there are limited grounds for such a case to be successful.

In April, the law firm called on businesses and organisations, which suffered losses due to power cuts, to join a class action suit against Eskom.

The damages claim is against Eskom directors over fraudulent, unlawful and reckless acts which had a role in the deterioration of Eskom's generation and resulted in load-shedding.

Gauteng police are ready for the polls

Police in Gauteng, led by Provincial Commissioner of Police Lieutenant General Elias Mawela declared the state of readiness of the security detail to deliver safe and secure elections.

General Mawela said police in Gauteng have already activated the initial deployment that successfully delivered rallies of four political parties over the weekend in Johannesburg, Soweto, and the West Rand districts. He said only a few incidents were reported.

Mawela said deployments throughout the election period will be intelligence-driven and responsive to threat assessment for each voting station.
