ANC applies to cross-examine Agrizzi at State capture commission

Court dismisses Duduzane Zuma's application to discharge culpable homicide charge

And, Mantashe unimpressed with stalwarts' call for candidates to step aside if accused of corruption

 

The ANC has applied to cross-examine former Bosasa chief operations officer Angelo Agrizzi at the commission of inquiry into State capture.

Agrizzi has leveled a string of allegations of tender-rigging and bribery against several high-ranking ANC leaders.

He has claimed that Bosasa, now known as African Global Operations, bought the politicians' influence in a bid to secure multi-million-rand government deals.

The party was confident that the commission will be able to afford the ANC the opportunity to cross-examine Agrizzi on his allegations.

 

The Randburg Magistrate's Court has dismissed an application to have a culpable homicide charge against Duduzane Zuma discharged.

Zuma's lawyers brought the application for dismissal after the State concluded its case on Wednesday.

The State called six witnesses since the trial got under way on Tuesday.

Zuma initially faced two charges of culpable homicide and a count of negligent driving relating to a 2014 car crash, on the M1 highway in Gauteng.

 

ANC chairperson Gwede Mantashe expressed disdain for a call from ANC veterans and stalwarts for those who were implicated in corruption to voluntarily remove themselves from the party's lists.

Mantashe said the call did not hold any weight and he warned stalwarts against the use of media briefings to air their concerns.

On Wednesday, party veterans held a press briefing urging South Africans to vote for the ANC. They were critical of some people who appeared on the party's lists for the National Assembly and provincial legislatures.
