Bathabile Dlamini says her inclusion in the ANC’s list is the will of the people

ANC Women's League president Bathabile Dlamini said that her inclusion on the ANC's list for the elections is the "will of the people".

Dlamini said they are elected by the people and therefore what was on the list was the will of the people.

Top of the ANC list are President Cyril Ramaphosa, Deputy President David Mabuza and party chairperson Gwede Mantashe.

Ronald Lamola, Fikile Mbalula, Zweli Mkhize and Bheki Cele also made the list while the three women who made it into the top 10 are Nomvula Mokonyane, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and Lindiwe Sisulu.

Ramaphosa orders probe into City of Johannesburg tenders

President Cyril Ramaphosa has authorised the Special Investigating Unit to investigate alleged wrongdoing within the Johannesburg municipality or by service providers in the city’s procurement of vehicles from Fire Raiders in a 2014 tender valued at R86.4-million.

Whistleblowers have alleged that while the costs associated with the purchase of the “red fleet” were paid over to the service provider, delivery was not effected.

The Presidency said the SIU has been authorised to investigate any alleged serious maladministration in connection with the affairs of the municipality; improper or unlawful conduct by employees or officials of the municipality; unlawful appropriation or expenditure of public money or property; and unlawful, irregular or unapproved acquisitive acts, transactions, measures or practices that have a bearing on State property.

Gordhan says there will be surge in irregular expenditure reported at SOEs

Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan has said that there will be a surge in irregular expenditure reported at State-owned enterprises, because in the past auditors failed to correctly identify it.

The minister was responding to questions in Parliament on Wednesday about the poor audit outcomes of State-owned enterprises over the past few years.

Gordhan said irregular expenditure was not fully disclosed in the past five years.

He explained that the disclosure of irregular expenditure figures in future annual reports was expected to be much higher, as "detection mechanisms" are better than before.
