SAA deal 'project director' never heard of firm he was meant to represent

The man whose name was given as the senior project director of a team who won a South African Airways tender had never heard of the company he was supposed to be working for, the State capture inquiry heard on Friday.

The team won a tender to advise SAA on a debt funding project and later secured R15-billion in funds.

The shocking revelation came as the commission continued to probe tenders between BnP Capital, In Line Trading 10 and SAA which was signed in 2016 to source funding. These tenders were cancelled after a whistle-blower leaked documents to the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse.

North West ready to work with Zondo Commission in rooting out corruption

Mokgoro made the pledge in his State-of-the-province address.

Allegations of corruption were mentioned at Zondo Inquiry Commission probing allegation of State capture, against the North West safety and transport management department in relation to the Mafikeng and Pilanesberg Airports.

DA calls for Cogta intervention following 'undemocratic and disturbing recurring events' in eThekwini

The DA has called for urgent intervention at the eThekwini Municipality by Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.

DA cooperative governance and traditional affairs spokesperson Haniff Hoosen said "the municipality has become engulfed in chaos, following the extension of contracts to companies that are closely linked to Mayor Zandile Gumede.

A full council meeting on Thursday was rocked by allegations of an apparent poisoning attempt on the acting mayor.

According to Hoosen, the speaker announced that some councillors' water bottles were compromised, and might have contained paraffin.
