Motsoaledi extends Zimbabwean Exemption Permits again

Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi has extended the Zimbabwean Exemption Permits for another six months.

The validity of the ZEP will be extended from 30 June to 31 December.

The extension comes after the department had "approved thousands of waiver applications of the affected Zimbabwean nationals" and was "considering and approving waiver applications daily".

The Departmental Advisory Committee led by Dr Cassius Lubisi is now dealing with the increased number of visa applications.

 

New EFF MPs sworn into Parliament

The Economic Freedom Fighters has welcomed Mzwanele Manyi, Mandla Shikwambana, Eugene Mthethwa, and Nqobile Mhlongo as its new members of Parliament.

The four were sworn in as MPs on Wednesday by Speaker of the National Assembly, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula.

The EFF congratulated and welcomed the new MPs stating they would "bring quality to its parliamentary work and aid in the advancement of the agenda of economic freedom".

On Tuesday, the party had fired Andries Shembeni, Dumisani Mthenjane, Shelly Mokgotho and Ciliesta Motsepe as MPs.

Manyi believes that the EFF is well poised to make sure that the country is saved from deterioration.

 

World Bank to assess damage after destruction of Ukraine dam

The World Bank will support Ukraine by conducting a rapid assessment of damage and needs after Tuesday’s destruction of a huge hydroelectric dam on the front lines between Russian and Ukrainian forces.

The World Bank’s managing director for operations, said that the destruction of the Nova Kakhovka dam had “many very serious consequences for essential service delivery and the broader environment”.

The World Bank would carry out a rapid assessment of the damage and needs.

Ukrainians abandoned inundated homes on Wednesday as floods crested across the south after the destruction of the dam, with Russia and Ukraine trading blame for the disaster.
