ANC is proportionately allocating the same time for all discussions at policy conference

To avoid a scenario in which certain discussion topics take precedence to the detriment of other critical areas of deliberation, the African National Congress has proportionately delegated the same time for all discussions.

This was announced by the party's national executive committee policy sub-committee in a document aimed at managing the rules and procedures for the policy conference underway today.

The move was to allay fears that discussions could degenerate to mainly focusing on major proxy battles for party factions, such as the step-aside rule, and contentious topics, such as the nationalisation of the central bank and land reform.

Fedusa will declare members implicated in State capture

Federation of Unions of South Africa general secretary Riefdah Ajam said the union will declare all those members who have been implicated in State capture activities.

She was speaking during a webinar on the outcomes of the State capture commission hosted by the Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflection.

She also pointed out that workers' livelihoods were eroded by a fall in their income and security which was further compromised by the robbing of funds from the Unemployment Insurance Fund, which was supposed to have assisted them during difficult times.

Ajam also noted that it was painful to be unable to do anything when members had been without income, speaking specifically about members in the State-owned enterprises who had been affected by corruption.

DA announces NMB mayoral candidate following coalition agreement

The Democratic Alliance announced today Eastern Cape MPL Retief Odendaal as the mayoral candidate for Nelson Mandela Bay.

On Thursday the DA, the African Christian Democratic Party, Freedom Front Plus, Abantu Integrity Movement, African Independent Congress, the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania and the United Democratic Movement signed a “historic coalition agreement” to form a new local government for the Eastern Cape’s biggest metro.

DA Eastern Cape Provincial Leader Nqaba Bhanga said he has full confidence in Retief and believe that he and the coalition partners will get Nelson Mandela Bay working again.
