Corruption charges against Duduzane Zuma to be provisionally withdrawn

The National Prosecuting Authority is expected to provisionally withdraw charges of corruption against former president Jacob Zuma's son, Duduzane, media reports said today.

Duduzane Zuma’s lawyers declined to comment until the court process was finalised and NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane said the state would comment after Thursday’s court proceedings. 

In July 2018, Duduzane Zuma was charged with corruption, alternatively conspiracy to commit corruption, relating to an alleged R600-million bribe offer made to former deputy finance minister Mcebisi Jonas in 2015 by a Gupta brother, in Zuma’s presence.

 

A struggling Zimbabwe not in South Africa's national interest

An unstable and struggling Zimbabwe is not in South Africa's national interest and the South African government will do whatever it can within its means to assist its southern African neighbour.

Trade and Industry Minister Dr Rob Davies, speaking on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, in Switzerland, said South Africa was looking at the contribution it could make to resolve the crisis in Zimbabwe.

South Africa reportedly turned down a request from Zimbabwe for a $1.2-billion loan in December.

 

Maimane says those implicated in 'Bosasagate' must go to prison

Democratic Alliance leader Mmusi Maimane said those who are implicated in alleged corruption with Bosasa Operations should be prosecuted and put in prison.

This as former Bosasa chief operations officer Angelo Agrizzi continued testifying at the Zondo Commission of Inquiry into allegations of State capture. 

During his six days of testimony, Agrizzi has implicated senior members of the ruling party the ANC, government officials, members of Parliament and trade union leaders in taking bribes from Bosasa chief executive Gavin Watson in exchange for awarding tenders worth billions of rand to his group of companies.
