Cope's Dennis Bloem to testify at State capture commission

Congress of the People spokesperson Dennis Bloem will today testify on alleged corruption at Bosasa during the time he chaired Parliament's correctional services committee as a legislator for the ruling ANC.

Bloem chaired the committee between 2004 and 2009 before leaving the ANC to join Cope. He approached the commission probing State capture with a request to give evidence regarding Bosasa and top officials at the correctional services department.

Former prisons boss Linda Mti and the department's former chief financial officer Patrick Gillingham allegedly scored houses, cash and vehicles while government ministers and ANC bigwigs had state of the art security systems installed at their private homes at no charge.

 

Ramaphosa's R500 000 'Bosasa donation' on ice and ready for AFU

Campaign managers for President Cyril Ramaphosa's 2017 ANC presidential campaign will not oppose any attempt by the Asset Forfeiture Unit to seize the R500 000 donated by Bosasa CEO Gavin Watson, should the unit choose to move in. 

Watson's donation, which is likely "tainted" and possibly the proceeds of crime, has been placed in an attorney's trust account pending the outcome of legal reviews on the matter.

This was revealed in an email from the founder of Forensics for Justice, Paul O'Sullivan, to Democratic Alliance leader Mmusi Maimane, in response to a Public Access to Information Application filed by Maimane's office to Ramaphosa's son, Andile.

ANC fails to secure ruling on the suspended website  

The ANC failed to obtain rights to the domain name of its website after an adjudicator, appointed by DomainDisputes.co.za, ruled against the party this week.   

The party approached the body after service provider Unwembi Communications claimed ownership of ANC domain name www.anc.org.za.

It was previously reported that there were allegations of non-payment of a R32-million bill to the service provider, which prompted Unwembi to pull the plug, forcing the party to register a new domain and leave behind years of data.
