Court rules Jacob Zuma is responsible for his legal fees

Jacob Zuma will have to pay for his own defence costs.

This comes after the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria ruled today that the former president is responsible for his own legal fees.

Judge Aubrey Ledwaba declared that the state is not liable for legal cost incurred by Zuma.

The DA filed papers late in March, asking the court to set aside a 2006 agreement relating to legal costs Zuma incurred for his criminal prosecution, which the Presidency signed.

Maimane denies that the DA is losing support

The DA leader Mmusi Maimane already has plans in mind, should he become president.

He said a clean government was needed to fight corruption at every level and send those found guilty to jail for 15 years, and a well-trained police service, and staffed by motivated individuals, so that South Africans can take back their streets and their neighbourhoods from criminals.

Maimane was speaking to staff members at the DA's headquarters in Johannesburg, where he urged them to not take seriously the recent poll results from the South African Institute of Race Relations, which suggested the party's support had declined to 18% from 23% in September.

Eskom says load shedding not likely until January

There is low probability of load shedding up until January 13 due to the reduced demand for electricity over the festive break, Eskom said.

The power utility issued a statement today on the system's status.

Eskom has however noted that the rainy season from December to March could affect coal handling and feeding to broilers - which would affect generation production.
