Magashule insists ANC is not facing a crisis

ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule has denied there is any crisis in the governing party brought about by his refusal to step aside after being charged with corruption last month.

He said the ANC is not in any crisis and added that the party had a wonderful meeting where all NEC members extended their views.

The ANC's NEC affirmed a suggestion by Magashule that he would appear before the body of elders led by ANC veteran George Mashamba for fraud and money laundering related to an allegedly corrupt asbestos tender in the Free State.

SA to introduce Web-based Covid-19 screening system

The Department of Health has announced the launch of a pilot programme for a new Web-based travel health questionnaire to increase efforts to strengthen active screening and surveillance at ports of entry into South Africa.

The department says with the full resumption of international travel, the digital screening solution, which goes live on December 15, will allow travellers to complete the required travel health questionnaire on their personal devices ahead of their arrival at the ports of entry.

On Wednesday Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize announced that the country was in the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The department is intending to make a move from paper-based screening systems to a digitized screening solution in a phased approach.

Ghana president Akufo-Addo promises economic boost after election win

Ghana's President Nana Akufo-Addo has won a second four-year term in office, following a tightly contested vote that was tainted by violence in which five people died.

Akufo-Addo fended off a hard-fought challenge from his predecessor winning 51.59% of the vote against old rival John Mahama with 47.37%.

Akufo-Addo has promised to implement a $17-billion programme to boost growth in one of West Africa's largest economies.
